Ukrainian Christmas Event 2024

South Hill Centre hosted a traditional Christmas celebration for the local Ukrainian Community in December 2024.

The event hosted 60 adults and 51 children. The overwhelming response from attendees was one of satisfaction and sincere gratitude for the opportunity to come together. The atmosphere of joy and camaraderie was evident throughout the day.

The event, part funded by Hertfordshire County Council, was a great success.

Anna Lesnic, Chair of the Hemel Hempstead Branch of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain Limited (AUGB)  said: “On behalf of our community, I would like to express heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to host our Christmas family gathering at your institution. The event brought together friends, families, and acquaintances, fostering a sense of warmth and connection on such an important occasion. The grant provided for this event was deeply appreciated, as it allowed attendees to participate without financial concerns or obligations. This inclusive approach enabled everyone to enjoy the gathering in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere”

The event was opened by Terry Douris, chairman of Herts County Council, and MP David Taylor joined later to celebrate the incredible efforts and dedication the group had in supporting Ukraine.
