Hemel Morning Deaf Group celebrating 30 years
Hemel Morning Deaf Group started on 14th December 1994 with Dorothy Lowe, with initially only four deaf people. The club has gradually grown and as the numbers increased they found themselves searching for and struggling to find a suitable meeting place .
The group was invited to connect in with South Hill Centre on 4th July 2016 and the club has continued to grow. Many of the group are now retired so are able to enjoy the facilities offered by South Hill centre; large hall, tables and comfortable chairs to sit around and have lunch and chat. The club also encourages hearing students who want to learn more British Sign Language to come along.
Dorothy commented: “We love the South Hill Centre because of the warm welcome and support from friendly staff who make us feel part of the community. We have now been coming here for 8 yrs and our club has just celebrated 30 year anniversary”
The Centre loves giving them that warm welcome!
